At 959 meters on Etna’s wild northern slope, Tenuta Baiamonte rises from ancient lava flows. Founded in 2023 by David and Wendy, we are custodians of a fierce and nurturing land—black sands, ash-kissed air, and vines that drink from the mountain’s hidden veins. Here, every grape carries the memory of eruptions past and the promise of slow, deliberate creation.

We walk gently: hand-harvesting under Etna’s watchful gaze, guiding native yeasts, aging in silence. The 'Mamma' in each bottle honors Mother Etna—tempestuous, protective, eternal. Her breath shapes wines of crystalline clarity, mineral depth, and quiet power.

From low-yielding bush vines, we craft small treasures: Nerello Mascalese that dances like light on lava, Grecanico as luminous as dawn over the crater, Grenache reborn in high-altitude shadow, and bold blends that carry the volcano’s flame. Sustainability is not a choice—it is reverence.

Mamma Tempesta Nerello Mascalese

Born of Etna's restless breath, Mamma Tempesta is pure Nerello Mascalese from ancient bush vines clinging to black volcanic sands. A tempest of cherry and sour cherry dances with wild berries, violet petals, and whispers of mountain herbs, rising like smoke from hidden craters. On the palate, it surges with vivid freshness—bright acidity like morning mist, fine tannins woven tight as lava threads, and a lingering smoky mineral echo that speaks of the volcano's untamed heart. The trying 2023 vintage forged rare intensity: a wine of crystalline clarity and quiet power.

Pietra di Mamma Grecanico

Like the eternal stone cradling Etna's secrets, Pietra di Mamma is Grecanico in its most luminous form—drawn from terraces where cool night winds caress the vines. A bouquet of white blossoms unfurls with yellow peach, citrus bloom, lavender drifting on ash-scented breezes, and a faint almond sigh. The sip awakens sharp and alive: piercing freshness cuts like mountain streams, savory minerality rises from ancient bedrock, and a boundless finish lingers like echoes in lava tubes. Mamma Ombra Grenache

In the cool shadow of Etna's northern flanks, Mamma Ombra reveals Grenache reborn—lighter, more ethereal than its sun-drenched kin. Small red fruits gleam like embers in twilight, entwined with dark petals, ripe strawberry, and a breath of spice carried on mineral winds. The palate flows lively and succulent, relaxed yet profoundly etched with volcanic earth. From the rigorous 2023 harvest, scarce yields concentrated vivid fruit and subtle fire—a wine that dances now yet whispers of future depth.

Mamma Fiamma

Mamma Fiamma blazes from Etna's fiery core—a bold union of Nerello Mascalese and Grenache, forged in volcanic earth and tempered by high skies. Dark berries burst forth like hidden lava rivers, laced with black cherry, Mediterranean spices, smoked herbs, and the deep hum of ancient soils. The palate ignites: ripe tannins warm like glowing embers, yet Etna's elegance holds it in perfect balance. The restorative 2024 season gifted ripe integration and refined power.
